Moving is a lot of Work
Well we are finally getting situated in our new home. There is even more to do than I thought.
WordPress has plugins and widgets and all kinds of other groovy things to make the whole blog better.
The challenge is that there is so much to learn that I find I get distracted way too easily! I’ll start out to change one thing, and as I try to figure out how to do it I see a dozen other things that I can change while I’m at it. Many of the things that will be simple and obvious to me down the road take forever right now.
Of course I was a kid that would take 20 minutes to look up a word in the dictionary because I’d see a whole bunch of other interesting words that I didn’t know yet. I’m pretty sure that’s not normal…
But we are making progress and will continue to tweak and modify as we go.
The plan is to get back to a normal posting schedule by tomorrow.
Please feel free to drop in a comment with your opinions on how things are going at this point.
Enjoy!

Dave, Thanks for the encouragement!
I’m digging all the cool things the blog can do now. Being able to do this
is cool.
The challenge is learning how to do them before running all of you kind folks off!
Hey Chris,
Glad to see you got this up and running. Tweaking is half the fun.
As I said more than once, Content is King, so don’t get too distracted with all the new bells and whistles.
Best,
Joe
Good word Joe. It’s all good from my end. I am just having to deal with a very steep learning curve.
Things will settle out shortly!
Chris,
Just as a test I’m trying 2 minor blogs on WP(dot)com and one is OK, I imported content from the blogger blog. The other I can’t even get to the My Account section, maybe I’m just impatient.
I want to see if they work there before I commit to the whole change over thing.
I did find a possible domain workingathomeinternet(dot)com
I think that may work, but I have to make a decision on hosting and everything else.
Joe
Joe,
I’ve been very happy with the whole experience. Frustrated at times, sure. The whole server giong down was just bad timing. And then there’s the frustration of trying to do things that should work, if only I knew how!
Send me an email if you want any recommendations on hosting. I did a bunch of research on it.
I think that after you make the move you will be glad you did. It is sort of like working out (not that I do that much anymore, but I did back in the day). The best part is when it is over.
Enjoy!
