Update: I changed the code per Scott’s suggestion in the comments below. Now the search box actually works. Oops! 😳
Hey guys! I’ve added a new little feature to CREEations that I thought might be helpful for some folks.
Over in the right side bar is a little search box where you can search eBible.com to see what the Bible has to say about stuff without having to go off to some other site. And it’s a good double check for me!
Here’s what it looks like.

Enjoy!

The search box doesn’t seem to work for me in Firefox. It doesn’t do anything when I press return or hit the search button?!
Hey guys,
I’m a developer over at eBible.com and I noticed you were using out search box on your site. It looks like the code I put up for bloggers to use doesn’t handle multiple search boxes on the same page, so I have modified it. You can get the updated code at: http://www.ebible.com/ebible/toolkit/bloggers
Thanks a lot for using the site!
Hey, Scott! Thanks for checking in so quickly with help.
One thing you might consider is putting up a version of the search box that is taller instead of wider for use in sidebars. I modified it to make it fit and it took a bit of doing. It seems I messed it up a bit in the process! 😳
I had it working fine before I posted the article. I’ll work with the new code and see if I can get it working again.
Your fix seems to work just fine, Scott. Whoo-hooo! Thanks! 🙂
To further my last suggestion about code for a narrower search configuration, most side bars seem to be somewhere between 140-150px wide so if you came up with an alternate code for something 140px wide (or just under) it should work for most folks who would like to put it in their side bar but may not be interested in the wider configuration.
I’m sure you are pretty stinking busy, but it’s just a thought.
Thanks Chris.
Actually yes, there is a plan to create sort of an eBible search box “generator” which will allow a user to design a search box for their site that would take into consideration things like size, colour, etc…
I will definately keep your comments in mind when I find the time to get back to the search box tool.
Thanks again!
your links and reply box don’t work at all in Safari – you click on them and they vanish!
Hey Kev, I’ve got to completely overhaul this theme. It is incompatable with WordPress 2.2 and I can’t this WordPress install until I redo the theme.
It’s on the list but my work site, SuccessCREEations has priority right now.
Thanks for letting me know about the Safari issue.
